Tarot Card Collages
I have been creating my own series of tarot card collages. I began by skimming through magazines, cutting out images that stood out or reminded me of a specific emotion or card. It honestly felt like a treasure hunt and finding the “perfect” image for each card feels so exciting!
The tarot cards are listed in the order that I happened to create them - somewhat random but with a special significance. Perhaps the cards have uncovered themselves to me in the exact order they were meant to be received.
Queen of Wands - Colorful creator, she is the spark, on top of the world, fierce. Uses her skills and passions to serve others. Protected by her familiar.
Three of Swords - A heart swirling with emotions, enduring self-abandonment and grief. Deep heartache on a wet and cold day. Letting go.
King of Pentacles - Wealth and abundance and generosity. Indulging just for the sake of it. Taking great pride and joy in the growth of the seed he started out with in the Ace of Wands. A sugar daddy who loves to provide.
Seven of Wands - I replaced the wands with long stems of colorful flowers. There is a delicate beauty to them - are they really attacking? Or is this figure just defensive and on guard, protecting his ego!
Ace of Pentacles - I see the pentacle as a seed, something that creates growth, something with value and great potential. A blessing. The fruit of my labor. Those golden coins that Mario & Luigi would jump up to punch!
Queen of Pentacles - Spiritual wealth and generosity. Disciplined and gracious. Takes delight in the material things - and the sensory pleasures of life.
Knight of Swords - Charging in. Ready to fight. Advocacy and activism - not saviorism.
Ten of Swords - Self-destruction. Devastation. Similar to death but of the mind - psychological and emotional trauma that often leads to abuse of substance. Ego death.
